Near the dam of the Sant Maurici pond, in the middle of the Aigüestortes and Estany de Sant Maurici National Park, stands the Mallafré refuge, a building ceded by Endesa to the FEEC and which since 1975 has functioned as a guarded refuge. Mallafré is the crossing point for GR 11, the popular long-distance trail that runs through the entire Pyrenean massif on the southern slope, and for the famous Carros de Foc trail, which connects all the refuges in the national park. A small and cozy refuge located in an exceptional corner.
